My clients are exceptionally diverse. From young men who want to build muscle bulk, older women who want to be more mobile, ex-athletes who want to maintain a fantastic body, and ordinary people who need their appointment like a kind of guilty conscience so they make it to the gym at least once a week.

Because of my own experience being pregnant and having a child, one of my areas of personal passion is pre and post natal training. For some amazing reason, four of my clients became pregnant in 2006/7 and all of them trained throughout their entire pregnancies – in one case, until a week before they gave birth. Most of the problems pregnant women experience like lower back pain, sciatica, and postural problems were avoided in all these cases by creating a resistance based program to strengthen specific muscles in those areas.

There are big advantages to learning about something through personal experience, so whenever I train a pregnant woman it’s informed by my own knowledge of what it’s like to be pregnant, which I believes makes me far more effective than someone who hasn’t had that same experience.

One of my other areas of passion is flexibility, which the reason I became a yoga teacher. Having always loved yoga, stretching has been a big part of my own workouts. Each personal training session ends with partner stretching, which can be as gentle or intense as the client prefers. This type of stretching has been scientifically proven to enhance flexibility, which is especially important if you run or ride – or even just sit at a desk all day. I also teaches private yoga classes – sessions can be one on one, or for a small group, and tailored to be relaxing, exhausting, challenging, or energising, depending on what you want.

If you’re a new client, before you start training, you’ll attend a thirty minute goal setting and lifestyle discussion, where you’ll be asked to fill out a thorough health questionnaire, and talk about what it is you want to achieve from your sessions. If you’re a novice, you might like to try several different approaches to training before you find the style you like. If you’re more experienced, you might already have strong ideas about what you want to do. Whatever motivates you most is the approach we’ll take. Areas like postural improvement, abdominal strength, body awareness and breathing will all be incorporated, in order to help you achieve your goals in the most balanced way possible.
